Community Engagement

Meaningful participation and thoughtful strategies for engaging with various communities, particularly with equity-deserving groups, through participatory methods and a forward-looking mindset.

With the complex nature of social issues, meaningful engagement must embed diverse perspectives and approach communities in thoughtful and informed ways.   We use strong research, participatory processes, and structured thinking activities to help teams and organizations make well-informed and intentional decisions during planning cycles and as unexpected situations emerge.

Our

PROCESS - STEPS

The approach outlined here takes into account participant needs (individual and group), giving full scope for engagement, representation, and expression

01

Needs Identification

We use an equity lens to get to the heart of what the engagement is aiming to achieve.
02

Best Practice Review

We take an evidence-based approach to best practices. This will include reviewing academic research studies, case studies, and grey literature
03

Strategic Co-creation

We co-create an engagement strategy and implementation plan, and pilot test with communities to identify any barriers or challenges.
04

Working with Peers and Community Intermediaries

We often work with trusted peers or community intermediaries (i.e. brokers) to reach and engage with under-served populations .
05

Implement and Adapt

During the engagement phase we continue to work, refine and reflect on the learnings of the project.
