Practicum students and Habitus

This blog post focuses on the multiple benefits of practicums for post-secondary secondary students and employers and showcases one practicum student – Matsuyuki Hara.

  • Practicums are opportunities for everyone to learn: they can be transformative field education experiences for students, and offer chances for workplaces to reflect on their own work and improve what they do.
  • Practicums open opportunities for current and budding professionals to meet.
  • Practicums are a way for workplaces and current staff to pass it on to the next generation of professionals. It can also be enjoyable to work with students!

Matsuyuki (Yuki) Hara came to Habitus from the University of Calgary Bachelor of Social Work program. She was near the end of her program. During her practicum, Yuki was immersed in diverse projects. She also had to identify learning goals and demonstrate learning.

Yuki was able to create two showcases of her learning: The first is an infographic on her learning goals and lessons. The second are three case studies to reflect on ethics in the field. Take a look at the PDFs
