Overview

We conducted a longitudinal study tracking 16 families and their children who participated in the Calgary Flames Foundation Grade 6 YMCA Membership program from 2019 to 2020 to understand their evolving physical activity journey through adolescence.

Objectives

  • Identified five key themes through bi-annual conversations with families over the study duration.

Outcomes | Results

Our study provided comprehensive insights into the evolving patterns, motivations, and challenges surrounding youth and family engagement in physical activities over a significant period. These insights offer valuable information for shaping future programs and interventions aimed at promoting physical activity among youth and families.
