City of Calgary

Overview

We partnered with ActionDignity to co-develop the City of Calgary Public Safety Anti-Racism Strategy. The Public Safety Strategy aimed to embed a racial justice approach, focusing on eliminating the root causes of racism and embedding anti-racism approaches within municipal enforcement and City programs and services.

Objectives

  • Conduct various engagement activities like interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, surveys, and a public safety forum with a focus on Indigenous, Black, and diverse Racialized communities and ensure inclusivity and safe spaces for sharing, considering various intersectional identities.
  • Conduct interviews with City staff to understand the context of public safety providers and ongoing anti-racism work.
  • Finalize the Strategy for public dissemination.
